Yesterday, a new UN resolution 1737 has been adopted on imposing sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran for its intentions to use nuclear power. As we all know, the USA is the main driving engine of the UN security council and uses it as a tool to give its decisions the global image.
In the Arab world and since the occupation of Iraq, Iran has been accused of playing a role in Iraq through supporting some militias as well as having a strong presence in the government, police and army. Such accusation have created a sentiment of resentment of Iran amongst many Arabs to the extent that some people brought up the issue of Persian greediness in Arab land. Some Arabs even view that any potential Iranian nuclear arms or even a strong Iranian army will be oriented towards Arabs and not Israel. Others even decided to adopt the perspective of a joint Arab - Israeli interest against Iranian influence.
Seen as the empire of the Shiite Islam, many Arab muslims (predominantly sunnis) regard Iran as a danger for its plans to spread shiite principles in the region and even accuse many shiite Arabs such as Hizbollah in Lebanon of being puppets to Iran and its lengthy arm in the region.
On the other hand, alot of people still regard Iran as a brotherly muslim nation and view its projects of 'peaceful' use of nuclear technology as a point of strength against the continuous Western and Israeli influence in the area. They do not see any danger incoming from Iran as far as spreading Shiite ideals and certainly do not want to see the country subject to any form of attack by the West and its allies.
In the middle of this row in the region, what is your view of Iran? DO you look at it as a friend or an enemy? Do you truly believe that Iran is looking for more in the region? Will you support a war on Iran if erupted? What are your fears from Iran if you see it as a foe? From a general perspective, could we say that Iran became the alternative to Israel in the region? Few questions that deserve generous analysis.

The real cause of the tension according to Iranian author Amir Taheri, is that “Iran intends to reshape the Middle East after its own fashion” (New York Post, August 8).
Ahmadinejad stated clearly his vision for the future of the region in his election campaign: “The Middle East can have either an American future or an Islamic one led by Iran.”
